Maledicte

• I watched The Eagle last night. (For those of you who follow me on Twitter, I'm sorry. I use live-tweeting movies and shows as a way to diffuse my tension with the things. Thus: Y'all get spammed.) Fun fact: there's not a single woman with a speaking line in the movie. There's this one slave woman who gives Marcus a bowl of soup, and then we never see her again. There's also the Seal Prince's sister, who giggles while Marcus (Tatum Channing) grins at her. But that's it. No women at all. They weren't even trying to hide all the GAY that this movie sprouted.

• Another Fun Fact: I fell asleep last night composing smut fanfic for this movie in my head. So much gay. All the fic needs to be written. I've decided that I'm not going to read fic for it until after I've written some, because someone has probably written my idea, and I just want to do it my way. So. (Yes, dragon_gypsy, you were right. I write fic for everything. I am a terrible person.)

• Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers on my flist! (Includes: human children and animal children. I totally call myself my cats' mom.) It's a beautiful sunny day here, even if it is windy, and I'm going to do laundry and cuddle with my cats and write some of my last papers. Which should all equal a pretty relaxing day, all told! I hope you all have relaxing days! Don't forget to call your mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, godmothers, and your best-friends' moms. :) (Or at least email.)

• There is a flat stretch of dirt road down in the valley here. I had my dad drive it, and one lap of it is 3/10 of a mile. I'm figuring that I ought to be able to do some running down there this summer, and get in shape. (My grandfather is in better shape than I am. Seriously.) Also, a friend of mine is moving into an apartment complex that has a pool. I anticipate lots of swimming to get back in shape. It's not really that I'm out of shape, but I'm tired of one walk up the hill tiring me out completely. Ugh.

• I'm back on the hunt for a car. I really really really do not want to go another summer without a car of my own. It might actually drive me crazy. I want to be able to go out and have fun without having to get a ride home from my dad early enough for him to go to sleep early like the old man he's starting to become. (Actually, I love my dad. But he likes to be asleep by 10pm, which kills a lot of my social life.) I think that the range for how much we can spend on it might be able to go up a bit, which means that the quality of car will go up a bit too. Which is great. I just want to be able to go out at night. (/fingers crossed)

• I need to talk to my boss about summer hours. I sent him an email about a month ago letting him know I would be available if he had anything for me, but I never heard anything back. (Not entirely surprising, as he's known to forget that sort of stuff and my email didn't exactly call for a response.) But since we're coming down to the last two weeks of school (!!!) it would be nice to get that all ironed out so I can have an estimate on how much money I'll be making over the summer. (You know, in September, I'll have been working at this place for two years. That's a lot!)

And it's time to go put laundry in and get on with the day.

• On January 22, 2003 in the library at my high school, ladyjaida helped me create this LJ. (You know, back when you still had to have a code to join.) Eight effing years, guys.

• I wish I had something special to post for this entry, but none of the fics I am working on at the moment are anywhere near completed. I can let you know that I am: 500 words into Before They Were Legends, 300 words into Currently Untitled ST:XI Kirk/Spock Fic, 500 words into Currently Untitles Covert Affairs Fic, and percolating on a Hawaii Five-0 Mary McGarrett thing (which I would like to get done this weekend).

• That last one, btw, is for leupagus's Promptfest: Mary Sue Edition. Many fandoms can be found there, not just H5-0. So, guys, go read the stuff. It's such a fabulous idea, so obviously I had to ask for a prompt. I feel like a lametard for not pounding something out when I actually got the prompt a couple of days ago, but I had things to do IRL.

• If you're at all in fandom and/or are in the Merlin fandom, you have to read this fic: Pairing: Pendragon/Merlin. It's meta in a totally awesome way and actually adorable. (Modern AU, in case you were wondering.) I might have read it three times since copperbadge recc'd it two days ago. (And I am resisting another reread right now because I need to finish this post and go to goddamned bed.)

• I got new icons! Look, it's a Tangled icon. Because I finally saw the movie. And loved it. And, obviously, that meant I had to have icons.

• IRL post... may or may not be coming later today (you know, after I've gone to sleep and gotten back up). I'm... waffling on how much of my life I want to share on Teh Internets. I dunno. I do this sometimes. Ignore me. Go read Merlin fic and/or the Promptfest things.

• Tonight was the best Chanukah in whiles. :) :) :)

• Granma sent me a KitchenAid stand mixer. I totally thought my grandparents were sending me a hand mixer, because I misheard over the phone. BUT GUYS. IT'S PURPLE. And AMAZING. It's funny, when I was unpacking it with my dad, I actually said, "I... can't even..." And he sort of laughed and said, "Describe how happy you are?" To which I could only laugh and sort of go, "Yes!" I have wanted one of these for YEARS. And now I have one! And I totally promise to stop baking from boxed mixes. (Except for the cake mix I bought today. Can't just waste it, after all.) I want to make blueberry muffins (because we have a giant bag of frozen blueberries in the freezer, and I hate them in my smoothies, so they don't get used, thus muffins) but I have no sour cream. And my preferred recipe calls for sour cream. Tomorrow or Thursday. Or this weekend. Yes.

• My dad got me a book. (This is awesome because I love books. I am a geeky, geeky child.) It's a writing book. (This is awesome because... it's kind of the first time my dad's gotten me anything that acknowledges my desire to write. It's not that he doesn't get it and support it—he totally does—but this is the first thing that's been like, "Let me give something to you, writer-daughter.") My dad got me a book on dialogue in the intro of which the author explains why Platonic dialogues are the best learning device of fiction ever and that's why he's going to use that method to teach about dialogue. GUYS. THIS WAS THE BEST PRESENT EVER. I read the intro aloud to him and at the end he goes, "So... this was a good book to get you, yes?" My dad is adorable. I might have teared up a little.

• Also, my dad loves me because he went and downloaded last night's Hawaii Five-0 for me today. I thought I was going to have to wait until tomorrow to get it, but he got it for me! My dad is so good to me, guys.

• Speaking of Hawaii Five-0, I have been watching/listening to this Hawaii Five-0 fanvid on repeat for at least an hour. Why is this show so gay. (Note: Not complaining. Make it more gay, writers, I dare you.)

• And speaking of the gay of this show, I'm totally going to be writing fic for the holidays. I didn't sign up for Yuletide or anything because I defaulted one year and now they won't let me sign up again that shit scares me, but I want to write fic to make the Yuletide gay (as it were) so I will be bringing you some Kirk/Spock goodness and also Steve/Danny goodness at the very least. If I can manage to get my ass really in gear, there might also be some Arthur/Merlin and some Joan/Arthur—oh man, remember that Covert Affairs fic I was writing?—but who knows. (Oh, also will be writing something for a HP gift exchange. Should be interesting.) SO MUCH FIC, SO LITTLE TIME.

• That being said: I know I have friends who are into these fandoms, so, uh, leave me prompts. I need inspiration if I am going to write all these fics.

• Last night I dreamed that I was a werewolf, and me and my werewolf boyfriend (played by a classmate of mine who I don't even know that well, but who is good looking) were being chased by the Spaniards. It was sort of really awesome, guys.

• I have passed the project that Mira and I are working on back to her. After a month of swearing I was going to get it to her in a day or two. Oof. And, I added less—word count wise—than I had planned, but I did get to the part than I had planned, so it worked out. Ish. I guess.

• Having passed the project to Mira, I feel less guilty about writing fanfic. So I am going to attempt to write my Covert Affairs fic today. I'm feeling pretty good about this. Which means...

• I might need someone to beta a fic for me. If anyone is interested.

• There is something about the light and the cold air in here—the place I work—that makes my eyes water. I look like I'm crying all the time. What the fuck is wrong with this place?

• anoyo and I are writing an epic Merlin AU to her already epic Merlin Big Bang AU. We've split it up into two parts: plot and smut. She'll write the former, I'll write the latter. And it will somehow work out exactly right. But holy crap, what were we thinking, Liz? It will be epic and awesome, but also epically huge and awesomely life-stealing.

• I have Merlin icons. I have Star Trek XI icons. I am still looking for Sherlock icons, Covert Affairs icons, and White Collar icons. I have not yet hit 100 icons. Oh jeez. (And now I can't decide which of the new icons to use for this post. This is my "fail" face.)

• Clearly Kirk/Spock wins everything.

• While plotting with anoyo, I came up with an awesome plot for another Merlin fic, and then while falling asleep I came up with an awesome plot for a Covert Affairs fic (Joan/Arthur ftw!). I do not have time to write all these things that I want to write! Maybe I ought to find awesome writers and give them prompts and have them write me fic. That will solve all my problems.

• Or I should just write them. I am banging my head on the desk, you just can't see.

• My mother isn't coming home tonight, like I thought. Complicated travel plans are complicated. Still, it will be slightly more relaxing for her, and that's always good. I wish she got to spend more time at home, but at least she enjoys her work.

• It's a really good thing I could never do justice to Sherlock Holmes's intelligence/arrogance or Spock's intelligence/logic or the sheer mind fuckery of anything from Inception. I don't have to worry about wanting to write fic for those fandoms. I am Sky's huge sigh of relief. I can sit back and just read all the fanfiction from those fandoms.

• This is a giantly fandom filled post. This is not normal, I think. (I am experiencing a strange desire to post tons of fanfic on my AO3 account.)
