In which Sky has a happy holiday.

• Tonight was the best Chanukah in whiles. :) :) :)

• Granma sent me a KitchenAid stand mixer. I totally thought my grandparents were sending me a hand mixer, because I misheard over the phone. BUT GUYS. IT'S PURPLE. And AMAZING. It's funny, when I was unpacking it with my dad, I actually said, "I... can't even..." And he sort of laughed and said, "Describe how happy you are?" To which I could only laugh and sort of go, "Yes!" I have wanted one of these for YEARS. And now I have one! And I totally promise to stop baking from boxed mixes. (Except for the cake mix I bought today. Can't just waste it, after all.) I want to make blueberry muffins (because we have a giant bag of frozen blueberries in the freezer, and I hate them in my smoothies, so they don't get used, thus muffins) but I have no sour cream. And my preferred recipe calls for sour cream. Tomorrow or Thursday. Or this weekend. Yes.

• My dad got me a book. (This is awesome because I love books. I am a geeky, geeky child.) It's a writing book. (This is awesome because... it's kind of the first time my dad's gotten me anything that acknowledges my desire to write. It's not that he doesn't get it and support it—he totally does—but this is the first thing that's been like, "Let me give something to you, writer-daughter.") My dad got me a book on dialogue in the intro of which the author explains why Platonic dialogues are the best learning device of fiction ever and that's why he's going to use that method to teach about dialogue. GUYS. THIS WAS THE BEST PRESENT EVER. I read the intro aloud to him and at the end he goes, "So... this was a good book to get you, yes?" My dad is adorable. I might have teared up a little.

• Also, my dad loves me because he went and downloaded last night's Hawaii Five-0 for me today. I thought I was going to have to wait until tomorrow to get it, but he got it for me! My dad is so good to me, guys.

• Speaking of Hawaii Five-0, I have been watching/listening to this Hawaii Five-0 fanvid on repeat for at least an hour. Why is this show so gay. (Note: Not complaining. Make it more gay, writers, I dare you.)

• And speaking of the gay of this show, I'm totally going to be writing fic for the holidays. I didn't sign up for Yuletide or anything because I defaulted one year and now they won't let me sign up again that shit scares me, but I want to write fic to make the Yuletide gay (as it were) so I will be bringing you some Kirk/Spock goodness and also Steve/Danny goodness at the very least. If I can manage to get my ass really in gear, there might also be some Arthur/Merlin and some Joan/Arthur—oh man, remember that Covert Affairs fic I was writing?—but who knows. (Oh, also will be writing something for a HP gift exchange. Should be interesting.) SO MUCH FIC, SO LITTLE TIME.

• That being said: I know I have friends who are into these fandoms, so, uh, leave me prompts. I need inspiration if I am going to write all these fics.

Thank you for pointing me to that vid. Wow.

ISN'T IT AWESOME.

I've been watching it nonstop today, too.

I have, like, twenty billion Merlin/Arthur fic ideas after this HOLY SHIT AMAZING season, so, like, I will totally be writing over winter break. I HAVE TO MAKE IT THROUGH FINALS FIRST. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. Just. ARGH. Stupid finals. BE DONE ALREADY. And I want to write some Kirk/Spock, too. POSSIBLY EVEN FINISH MY MAMMOTH!FICS. But probably not. Maybe just, you know, A MAMMOTH FIC. Or something. Yes.

THAT'S NOT A PROMPT. GIMME A PROMPT OR TWO. COME ON.

The mixer. Seriously so gorgeous!

And that vid! Eee! I love the writers of Hawaii Five-0 so much. And Scott and Alex! The subtext is practically text!

As for fic, I'll try to think of a prompt!

[identity profile] cerulean-sky.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It was even prettier in the light of day. ♥_♥

THE GAY IS SO CANON. I love them so much. I just want to write/read fic forever.

Yay prompt! I have one or two little idea things in floating around in my head. We'll see if anything comes of them.

Aww, I can only imagine. XD

So so much. I was looking for fic as the credits of the pilot episode was rolling. Need moar!

Still pondering a prompt, but what idea are you tossing around?

I... was reading fic before I watched the show. I downloaded the show so I could understand wtf was happening in the awesome fic.

Just... Steve cooking Danny pancakes in the morning. Or waffles. But probably pancakes, because it's cuter.

LOL!! That is hardcore. XD

Aww, pancake!fic. :D also, Steve can cook? XD

[identity profile] cerulean-sky.livejournal.com 2010-12-09 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just a weirdo like that.

I say he can! (Unless there's canonical evidence that he can't that I'm forgetting...) I'm going with "it's something his mom and he used to do but he hasn't done it for anyone since she died." I want there to be more plot than that, though. I was thinking that the pancake-making would just be a little thing in a bigger story.

You're awesome like that. XD

Oh, I don't think they've covered it one way or another in canon. I was just being facetious. I think it would be a reaction Danny might have at the prospect of Steve in a kitchen making something edible.

[identity profile] cerulean-sky.livejournal.com 2010-12-09 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
I like the way you think. XD

I think Danny would be all, "Ok, I can throw something together for dinner." And Steve would look at him—

Damnit, I want to write fic. ARG, SCHOOL BE DONE ALREADY.

Clearly, I'm genius.

LOL, kitchen control freak Steve! I'd buy it. Also, I'm suddenly, randomly reminded that Steve has a sister. Somewhere.

Life often interrupts fandom. Laaame.

You are. Obvs.

Man, that would have been the perfect Thanksgiving fic. Sigh. Maybe a Christmas dinner fic....

So lame. Less than a week left though!
