Title: Sweet Surrender
Author: Sky
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Cedric Diggory/Harry Potter
Word Count: 231
Warning: Slash
Disclaimer: Not mine. Don't sue me, or I shall be annoyed.
A/N: Um... written in about two seconds. Hopefully the first of many more CD/HP fanfics to come. :D
Harry can’t understand why anyone would want to do this. After the first task he thought about giving up. It would be so easy, surrender always is, but he continued on anyway, completing the second task as well. Now, as he waits for the third, he wonders why anyone would do it, why anyone would want to do it.
“Why did you put your name in the Goblet?” Harry asks Cedric, his expression curious and confused.
“Well, why not?” the Hufflepuff seeker counters, giving him a smile that’s just as confused as Harry’s. He doesn’t understand why Harry doesn’t understand.
“Why would you want eternal fame and glory?” Harry inquires.
Cedric watches the younger boy, who is playing with the ties on his robes, and can’t seem to stay still. “I want to be remembered,” he says after a minute. “Not all of us have fame and glory dropped in our lap when we’re a year old.” Harry looks up at him, stung, and Cedric continues before Harry can interrupt him. “Some of us strive to never have our names forgotten, to always be remembered.”
The green-eyed boy doesn’t look like he understands, and Cedric knows he has no hope of making him understand, so he doesn’t try much longer. Instead he kisses him, effectively silencing them both, and they both enjoy a moment that only one person will ever remember.
