On advent calendars and cakes.
Jul. 14th, 2007 09:57 pmMy two accomplishments today are:
1) I made an "advent calendar" for my mother. She leaves tomorrow for Africa and she's going to be there for three whole weeks. She's been really stressed out, pretty much this whole year, and has been doing SO much traveling. But today, I went out with
inamirata and bought 21 cards. Greeting cards, mostly, but they're all blank inside. (Except for two. One says, "Hi" and the other says, "I believe in you.") Each card is dated with a date to be opened, and inside there a little messages of love. Pretty much just to remind her that I love her. Though, I know she knows that.
2) I baked. I made a cake. With a cake mix, but still. It's supposed to be gluten free, and I wanted to make a cake for Mira's mother's birthday (much later in the year) but if I am going to make it out of this cake mix, I need to test it first on someone not quite so terribly celiac. Thus, Mira.
Also, I went out with my mother yesterday. We talked, and it nice. Then we went shopping, and she bought me some things from Victoria's Secret. New bras and sleepwear, mostly. (Since I've been sleeping in over-sized t-shirts my entire life, and now I have a roommate with a boyfriend who is frequently here. Can't be wandering around in just a shirt, now can I?)
We also had a brief conversation about a bedframe, or what I am going to do instead of getting one. Which will be dealt with next month, or so. (I have to figure out how much a box spring is going to cost...)
Travel plans were also altered. Specifically, mine. So I'm not going to be going to Rwanda in two weeks. I will go some other time, and hopefully mt dad will accompany my mother and I. There might still be some hint of travel in the air, but I'm not sure what that's going to look like, quite yet. I guess we'll see.
Lastly: After seeing my mother, I went out with Josh, to see HP5. I'm not going to say anything about it other than: It's the best HP movie to date, with amazing music, and Luna Lovegood is possibly the best cast character of the whole movie.
