Since the last time I posted, I...:
♣ ... finished Rosemary and Rue and its four sequels (A Local Habitation, An Artificial Night, Late Eclipses and One Salt Sea)—and really enjoyed them. Waiting for the next book—it comes out in September. Don't yet know what I'll be reading between now and then. That's about it. I'm boring these days.
♣ ... adopted a cat. His name is Dimitri (because he's at least part Russian Blue and that was the first Russian name I thought of) and is fat and talkative and hopefully happy. (Technically this happened before the last time I posted, not since, but I didn't mention it in my last post, idk why.) He has very pretty light green (jade-colored almost) eyes. Eventually we'll get him a girlfriend and name her Anastasia—because it makes me LOL mostly.
♣ ... checked my school account and discovered that the last class without a listed teacher finally has one and that all my classes finally have their book lists on the school bookstore. None of the books look like they might cause me to drown myself in the nearest water source (the sink) so I'm tentatively hoping this semester won't either.
♣ ... stopped writing in my paper journal entirely. Bad Sky, bad!
♣ ... let my paid account here on DW expire because I am le broke. I plan on re-upping it as soon as I can, but at least the way that DW cuts back on your icons doesn't make zero sense at all LJ I'm looking at you, so that's nice.

on 2012-08-10 03:24 am (UTC)I don't know how hypoallergenic they are, though. My boyfriend has very mild cat allergies and he tries not to pet Dimitri and then rub his eyes as they get watery and itchy. But Dimitri is very likely not full Russian Blue, so maybe he's just not as allergen-free as a pureblood. I know my Santa Fe Grama has a pureblood Russian Blue and she seems a bit less prone to shedding. And someone I knew in high school got a pureblood Russian Blue, but not because of the allergy factor (no one in his family was allergic, they just liked the breed and had money to blow getting a pureblood cat for 3k).
That being said, I agree with Loren. Any kind of pet is likely to stress you out these days. Particularly one who might need to be walked (like a dog) or their litter box cleaned (cat) or one who talks, loudly, to you all the time (she types, as her cat meows at her from the door). Also, in your teensy little apartment any animal larger than a mouse is likely to take up more space than you really have room for.
But if you do get a kitty someday and it's a Russian Blue, you should let me know about the hypoallergenic-ness of it! Because it would be neat to know if that's actually a real thing.

on 2012-08-10 04:22 am (UTC)I did notice though that every year when I'm at Loren's house, I start out completely miserable and having to take Claritin every single day -- and after about a week I get used to being around the cats and I forget to take my allergy medicine and am for the most part alright. So I think my body adjusts to allergens fairly quickly...
But yeah. Stress. I stress too easily. Sigh...

on 2012-08-10 05:29 am (UTC)I hope you get some animals sometime. I think I remember you talking about being allergic to dogs and then getting over it, so maybe it's just what you've been exposed to most frequently up to now. If you could get a cat and get over your allergies to it, that would be awesome! Kitties are the best. I love me some kitty-cuddles. :) might even be good for something like stress!
