So, last night I went into the city to see Neil Gaiman. As always, it was great. That man is entertaining, funny, and a great writer. He read the first chapter of The Graveyard Book, did all the voices for all the characters, and generally just made us laugh and want more. There was a short spoiler bit for the Coraline movie, which I just looked for online, but can't find the exact one we were shown. Most of the same stuff can be seen in these videos though. Creepy, creepy looking movie. XD After the sneak peek, Neil Gaiman did some Q&A, which was hilarious as always.

Since he'd broken his finger in China not too long before this event, he wasn't actually doing any signings, but he did walk through a bunch of fans after the event was over. People got hugs, people gave him some art. You know the shtick. My boyfriend asked Neil if he would kiss a copy of American Gods, that we would provide lipstick if he would. He got a laugh from Gaiman and the crowd, and Neil blew a kiss at the book. Sarah, I passed along your message, and was told to give you and Grey Linnaea his best wishes.

I didn't see [livejournal.com profile] davekirtley, though I looked for him. A lot of the time I was looking around for him the auditorium was partially darkened so I might have just missed him. I did see [livejournal.com profile] bethynyc though. Which was rather a pleasant surprise. We passed each other in line and waved.

Unfortunately, I've come down with an extremely bad cold, so with great reluctance I had to bail at the last minute. I'm glad to hear you had a good time though.
