They'd been so young when Rafe had fallen in love with Cira, twelve to Cira's ten. He'd been barely able to control the fire that raged through his veins, and it had threatened to overwhelm him constantly.
That's when he would see Cira's face. And remember everything that he had to live for, and why he couldn't just let the fire consume him.
It had taken Cira a long time to believe in his love, but Rafe didn't mind. His love remained true no matter how hard Cira tried to push him away. Then, when Cira needed him, there he was, his love as strong as ever.
In the end, Cira had returned the love, in his own way. And through Rafe was older, and had fire running through his veins, it was always Cira who was reckless, and Rafe who kept him grounded.
