It occurs to me, as I'm thinking about it right now, that I spend a lot of time dressing up and then not taking pictures.

I attended a V-Day event tonight with the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] inamirata as my guest. This is an event for which I actually spent time looking for a dress and ended up buying a really, really nice red dress. I looked amazing (if I do say so myself) and yet... there are no pictures.

I ought to corral a friend of mine, find a location, grab some nice outfits and go do a photoshoot. (I used to get my mother to do this. Alas, she and her really nice camera are no longer at my beck and call!)

Anyway. Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Fun fact for the day: I don't particularly like showering.

Now, don't mistake the above with, "I don't shower," because I do. I just don't like it much. I've always felt that it was time that could have been spent doing other, more useful (or interesting) things. It was my valuable time that was being taken away by, being used, being stolen by the shower.

And all those things that I would be doing if I weren't in the shower are things that you can't do in the shower. You can't talk on the phone, you probably can't even hear it if it rings. You can't IM. You can't check your friends list. But most importantly (to me, anyway), you can't read. Any and all attempts to combine those two activities have met with soggy failure. Baths are only slightly better, for that reason.

You're vulnerable in the shower. You're completely starkers. Not to mention the fact that those of us who wear glasses become blind in the shower. I don't know about you, but I feel being naked is vulnerable enough. And, once you step out of that thing, you're cold! I don't think adding blind to the list makes it any better. (For some fun, go here and scroll down to read YarnHarlot's shower experience.)

And maybe I'm just crazy, but has anyone out there seen Psycho? Hell, I haven't but every time I step into the shower I still hear those damn violins...

ETA: The thing I forgot to mention about baths is... well, our bath isn't that deep. And I'm a fairly well endowed young lady. Which means that even with the water as high as it can go (without draining out through the safety drain at the top of the shower) not all of me is submersed in the water. It makes me a sad kitty.
