So yeah. First day was good. I'm actually really happy with what I have, and my classes are going to be good. ( Some of them have some surprising people in them. Which means that there will be bad days... >.< ) But yes. I did have to sit through one day of Desktop Publishing 2 ( which I edited out of my schedule since I'm dropping it ) even though I'm dropping it because I hadn't told the head of the high school yet. I don't think I got credit for Desktop Publishing 1! There's no reason for them to have put me in DP2. Plus, I told them that I didn't want a computer class. And I still managed to get one. Bleh. But I only have four classes tomorrow, so I'm happy. Not an early day though, as I have none of those.
People keep telling me I have a really empty schedule. And yet, I got everything I asked for. Huh.
My parents are going to a wedding upstate this weekend. ( They might be leaving tomorrow. Or maybe Saturday. I can't remember. ) So I'll have one day alone, I think. Looking forwards to this, as always. Even though my mother and I are on good terms once again. ( Though I am still wary of her. I am trying not to do anything that would piss her off though. )
I need to get a job. What would rock so much is if the restaurant that is opening across from my house is hiring and they hired me. That would be awesome. I need to go check to see if they are hiring, and see if I can give them an application. Bah. Also, I should look into the two comic book stores around here. *nods and makes a note*
Also, Steven bought me three rings. I knew he was getting me one, at least, but then there were THREE in the box and I was like, "Oh. My. Gods." ( Which is what actually came out of my mouth. ) So now I am happy and wearing all three rings that he bought me. ( Ew, against them, my other ones look all dirty and iky. I should polish them. I was planning on doing it anyway, but yeah. ) It makes me unbelievbely happy to have a claddagh ring. ( I gave
ravenpirate and
sailor_phobos claddaghs last year for xmas. But I never bought myself one. So now I have one! *bounce* ) I <3 them. I also <3 him. I wish he lived closer. A bunch of my friends also now want to meet this mysterious guy who can make "Sky, the cold, heartless bitch who will never love anyone" get all "dreamy and smiley." I don't get that way! Really I don't! ( Then
airiviel goes off to tell her friend about my relationship, and apparently gets told that Steven and I are "cute" and Steven is "sweet." Ooooookay. )
Also, my only homework is reading four poems. So I have time to do some SAT studying tonight. ( Be proud of me,
airiviel! ) I do have to write an essay, but it has to be in a composition notebook, which I don't yet have, and it's due monday. The question is, just to give you an idea of how awesome the Sci-Fi class is, "Did the first part of the story happen?" ( I went to buy one today, and then didn't. They had a billion at the store, but I want one that has graph paper in it since the lines are smaller and not the fricken huge ones that the regular notebooks have. I can't write essays on those lines. That's like... four sentences to a page. So not acceptable. But they're getting the graph paper ones in tomorrow, so I shall buy one then. )
Some authors we'll be reading in the Sci-Fi class:
-William Tenn
-Isaac Asimov ( of course )
-Robert A. Heinlein ( also, of course )
-Larry Niven
-Ben Bova
-Arthur C. Clarke ( duh. )
-Ursala K. LeGuin ( thought she wrote mostly fantasy, but cool. )
-Theodore Sturgeon ( of course )
-Philip K. Dick ( obviously )
This class, seriously, is going to be amazing. We're reading short stories and writing essays on them. What more could I want? Then, we're using the essays to explore Time, Space, Reality, Human Existance etc. And, in my English class, since it's philosophy, we're also going to be reading some Sci-Fi. I'm a little squeeful over this.
To-Do Tomorrow:
-Call NYU and see if I can make a tour appointment.
-Buy composition notebook
-Read at through at least chapter three in The Picture of Dorian Grey
-Study more
-Write something, since I have been remiss in this.
Wow... this was actually a longish post... I rambled a lot, yes, but still.
I need more icons. I am going to allow myself to go icon searching for a bit.
