DIRECTIONS: Name 10 People/Places/Things/etc. you find overrated and then tag five people.

1) Sleep.
2) Sanity.
3) J.R.R. Tolkien. I could not read the LotR books because I don't like how Tolkien writes.
4) Bill Murray. I just... don't like him... And I don't find him all that funny.
5) Religion.
6) Phones. I like AIM better, as I can talk to more than one person at one time, and do other things. *is a chronic multi-tasker*
7) PCs. Sorry, I like my Mac. Computers in general dislike me, and Macs dislike me less than PCs. ( Also, they're what I was raised using, so I know jack shit about PCs.)
8) Rap. It's not music. I'm sorry.
9) Fashion. I am not a sheep. Therefore, I can decide by myself what I want to wear, based on what I like.
10) E.T. He scares me. >.> I've never gotten through the movie. I just can't watch it.

( Some of these are really random... >.> )

In the meantime, I tag:

Agreed on Tolkien. I couldn't get halfway through the first book.

I forced myself to get through The Hobbit. I didn't even bother with the the LotR books. Even though people tell me to. >.o

That... is not funny? No, not really. Not at all, in fact. Sorry.

Good to hear from you, though.

Having used PCs for all my live up to this past May (and a Powerbook since), I can say you're not missing much. Well, you are missing an irritating and cumbersome application menu, godawful slow searches, and general ick, but I'd imagine those wouldn't be things you'd want.

Because I didn't ask a question in that meme a while back, and because #5 above reminded me of this: Are you an atheist, agnostic, or just don't like religion?

I am technically jewish. I'm not a practicing jew, however, and I am going to, at some point, convert to paganism. Or something along those lines.

I don't believe in a single god though, if that helps to answer your question.

But in general, I just dislike organized religion. I have no porblem with it, really, I just want it to be something that is kept strictly to the home, and churches/temples/mosques/other meeting places.

Heh. I have one friend here who describes herself as "culturally Jewish, practicing eclectic pagan." Pretty accurate description of her. I've long liked paganism, but mostly in a sense of "If I believed in a deity, I'd probably be a pagan."

See, I was raised kind of oddly. My parents' families are pure Catholic, but Mom's an atheist and Dad's agnostic. I wish they'd known about UU and raised me some kind of agnostic UU; I'd rather that than what I got, which was Catholic from the rest of my family and little or no word from my parents. I used to think I was Catholic, until I realized in middle school that I didn't believe any of that God stuff. Right now, I'm atheistic/agnostic, along the lines of "I believe that there is no such thing as God, but I also think it's impossible for humans to be sure of the nonexistance of a deity."

I like the community feelling of a church, but I dislike the bureaucratic feel of most organized religions. I've been considering going to a service or two in the Santa Fe UU church, just to see what it's like; I'll be hearing a lot about religion at St. John's, so I may or may not want another form of it to think about.

Sorry for the ramble. For being atheistic, I still have a lot of interest in religion.

You might also check out the temple there. It's actually really close to SJC, and it's really nice. I used to go there a lot when I was more jewish. ( I went to several years of hebrew school there. ) I think there's a whole lot on jewish religion at SJC, so it's a thought.

Also, your friend sounds pretty much like what I would want to be. I need to learn more about Paganism and whatnot before I can technically be called "practicing" though.

Only because I know I won't be able to MOVE in the morning if I don't get some sleep. But lately I've been running on... average of four hours of sleep, and doing fine. For about... a month now. So I think sleep is overrated, yes. :D
