• You know what's funny? Financial aid is both easier and way more complicated than it should be. (Why, yes, I am only just applying for financial aid. Don't look at me like that!) The FAFSA application was way easy this year, but the CSS Profile? Holy crap, what the hell was that. It took me like... an hour and a half. Clearly I need to win the lottery and pay off my school all in one sweep and never have to think about financial aid ever again.
•
klose got me thinking about something again that I hadn't thought about in a while. A new project. I'm not sure that I want to deal with it right now (particularly with the effort of running
fantasybigbang) but now it's back on the back burner of my mind. (It was in a box in a closet for a while, I guess.) Still, now I am thinking about projects again, and that kind of nice.
• Speaking of
fantasybigbang, I'm terrified that it won't go off well. Or that I will have to try to figure out a way to postpone it until after NaNoWriMo. It's already going to be running while I'm at school (though I shouldn't have to do too much work on it while I'm there) and I don't think I want to push it to the middle of a school year for anyone. It's mostly that there aren't that many artists. I should try to figure out a way to get more of those. Hmmm. We'll have to see.
• It's all rainy here, and overcast and so it seems like it's way later than just after 3pm. It's throwing me off. :<
• Finished with my current run of Tamora Pierce books. I finally got my hands on the library's copy of Holly Black's The White Cat and I just started it, and I am looking forward to it. And also the other neat things that I have from the library that I've never read before.
Eh, that's all there is for today, I think. I'm tiiiiired. And probably somewhat whiny. And I want to RP. XD

And that Tamora Pierce thing reminds me- I've been meaning to buy the last Lioness book; for some reason that's the only Tortall book I'm lacking. Well, that and the Beka books, now that I think about it. I really should get Pierce's other series, too, since I've never read those, either.

I still haven't read the Beka books at all. But I've read everything else (except Melting Stones, but I've got it on reserve at the library). But you should definitely read Tamora Pierce's Magic Circle books. They're really great.

I can definitely pimp it, though! Goodness knows that I know all sorts of artists, so maybe one of them would be interested in helping on the art side of things. Ooo, and one of my best friends is writing a fantasy story, so I can tell her about it, too. :)
For some reason the blurbs I read about the Beka books don't appeal to me as much as the rest of the series, so I haven't been overly keen to read them yet. Awesome- I'll check those books out! So the rest of what she writes is good, too?

And since she's my resident shoulder-devil and I go along with her crazy ideas, I think I might join in, too. Would it be the end of the world if I had to bale out, though? I never know how I'll be feeling and if I'm up to working on stuff, but I'm pretty sure I can reach that word count by the deadline. My writing muse is extremely wordy.
One more question- is it okay if it's something we're posting elsewhere? Both me and my friend are writing our stories on our writing blogs already.

There's no limit on the length, though something that the artist can read in a reasonable amount of time would be nice.
It's not the end of the world if you have to bail, no. Just do it before the artist claiming opens, so that an artist doesn't work on a piece of artwork for a story that doesn't end up being a part of the challenge in the end.
As for the posting elsewhere (and this is something I thought I'd covered in the FAQ but apparently forgot): we ask that it be a completely new piece that hasn't seen the light of day yet (other than you and your betas). It could, though, be something in the same universe as something else you're working on—the background story of a character who doesn't get a lot of face time, maybe. Using a started story is ok, but we ask that it not have been posted on a blog or LJ.

In theory I could write about another character in the world (I was planning on doing that after I finished this story), but I don't think I can do two at the same time. I have a habit of not finishing something if I pick up something else, and I really want to finish this one before I forget all the things I had planned for it and move on to a new character. Darn it, and this was giving me inspiration to actually get it done in a timely manner instead of procrastinating.
