In which Sky thinks about travel.
May. 22nd, 2010 11:56 amI've been thinking about vacations lately. And about where I want to go for next year's Winter and Spring breaks. (Which are when I travel, because it looks like I'll be spending most of my summers working and making money, which I am ok with.) But this means I need your help, guys! Help me figure out where I want to go. As I'm probably going to Ireland (most likely going, Mom is already looking for flight/hotel deals, cue mental squeeing) at the end of this summer, and now that I have a passport, I'm thinking some international travel is in order, right? Of course! :D
Winter 2010/11: I want to go some place warm. And also with a beach. I miss beaches. So... Caribbean island? Australia? A flight to the Caribbean is fairly cheap, and Australia is distinctly not cheap. (Though, it's cheaper to go to Sydney than Melbourne, and both are cheaper than going to Auckland, New Zealand. Clearly these places are a trip for another time in my life.)
So, assuming I decide Caribbean island, that still leaves me with which island to choose! I looked at St. Lucia (because I saw an ad somewhere on the internet for a hotel there that was really nice and way too expensive for me, but still nice), and my parents went to Anguilla once and liked it, so that's about all the information I have. So tell me about your trips! Tell me where you went and if you liked it. (And also if you have any tips on finding cheap hotels, that would be awesome too. XD)
ETA: Thinking about expanding this to Mexico, as it's really easy to get from New Mexico to Mexico. Cheap flights can be found from NYC to Caribbean, but they nearly double if you have to fly from NM instead. D: But! Looking at Cozumel, mostly because I like the location. Ideas? Suggestions??
Spring 2011: I'm thinking Greece/Egypt for Spring Break, because the weather should be nice by then, but it won't yet be summer and high tourist season. Both are cheap-ish flights, and from one it's possible that I'd be able to get to the other (if there aren't any cruises during the spring, it will take some finagling, but I could probably do it). Anyone ever been to either of these places? What did you think? Where did you go?
P.S. I finished school. I am a rising Sophomore. :D Bizarrely, I think I was never one of those at Lang, due to the state of my grades... So this is a first for me!
