In which Sky "tells all" about the SFWA event.

So, this is where I was last night. (If you go to the bottom and click on the guy's link to his photo gallery, there's a picture of me in there. Or you can click here to see just the picture.) It was lovely. I got to see tmseay and _starlady_ both of whom I haven't seen since Alpha 2005. tobiasbuckell was also there, and we had a nice chat towards the end about how college was perfect for getting away from parents and how it made our relationships with our parents better when we didn't actually have to be living with them. I had a fairly long talk with blackholly, who was there with her husband, about how you just have to write something even when it feels like you can't. (Good advice, that.) Also, I got so many compliments on my dress. Which surrised me. I mean, I like the dress and all, but I don't tend to think of it as "stunning" or "amazing" as some people clearly do. It deinitely boosted my confidence for last night.

The other upshot to last night are the two agents I met, both of which encouraged me to email them or give them a call. What's articularly lovely about this is that I didn't go to this event with an adgenda of soliciting or networking. I went because I tend to have fun at these things and because I knew friends would be there. (The free bar helped too.)

So there you go. If the fact that there are two agents who are at least mildly interested in see what I write out there isn't enough to get me writing, I don't know what is.
