So... lessee. Today was good. I hung out with Liza and another friend and her brothers. Liza lost a snowball/snow fight pretty badly. I was going to kill her, because she hit me with a snow ball, but I didn't have any gloves and I was already cold. So I just let her get creamed in a fight, and laughed my ass off at her. All in good fun of course. And she didn't mind. But I had a lot of fun doing nothing today. Because that's all I did really.

This morning my dad made blintzes though. Which were so good. It's our family's traditional My Brithday Breakfast. And we had our traditional dinner to. The speghetti sauce my dad and I made last night. ( Er... the night before my birthday. ) It's so good. It's my grandmother's recipe and we always make it, and I love it. I'm so glad we have leftovers.

First off, I want to say that everyone who commented on my journal to wish my a happy birthday, and everyone who posted on their own journal birthday wishes for me... I just wanted to say that it meant a lot to me. I was getting all teary eyed as I was reading them. So thank you.

Before I go into what I got for my birthday, I just want to make a small anouncement. Um... I don't have a working computer. I've been using my dad's computer once he goes off to sleep, but the laptop my mom was letting me use, no longer has a working keyboard. ( Don't ask. ) So... I haven't been able to write anything. *cough* So everyone who thought they were getting a Christmas drabble, is actually getting a New Year's drabble. ( Which also means that the offer is still open. If you want a drabble present, feel free to drop me a line and I'll write it for you. )

Ok, now onto the goodies!

Thing #1: My mommy made me this really awesome scarf, with this shimmery ribbon stuff. She bought the ribbon just for me and then made me this thin, long scarf. It's so pretty.
Thing #2: My mommy also gave me this cameo. But instead of having the portrait of a woman, it has the three graces dancing on it. ( Now, anyone who knows me really well, knows that a) I've always wanted a cameo, and b) I have a HUGE love for greek myths. ) But the story is the interesting thing. When my mother was a junior ( she said in highschool, but I'm sure she meant college ) she spent a year in Italy. In Rome, she met this boy from London, and they had a little affair, and he gave her the cameo, which she then gave to me. I don't know why, and maybe I'm just a romantic, but I found that so fascinating.
Thing #3: My God-Grandmother ( don't ask. ) gave me a cute little purse. Which is so nifty, as I had been bemoaning my puseless fate. ( I am so not joking. Carrying around a messenger bag with two things in it is a pain in the ass. )
Thing #4: My aunt and uncle gave me a journal to keep track of books that I want to read/buy. It's quite nifty. Very cute.
Thing #5: My grandmother gave me a pair of diamond earrings ( I shit you not ) that she had once owned. Her mother recently gave her the diamond earrings that my grandmother's grandmother used to wear, and so my grandmother passed the ones I now own onto me. I was so speechless for a moment when I opened the box. ( O_O I just typed "boy" instead of "box". Wtf? )
Thing #6 ( the most exciting one for me ): My parents got me a debit card. It hasn't actually arrived yet, but they got me a frikken debit card! Which is to say, every month my parents will put a certain amount of money into my account that I am allowed to spend. ( Sort of like a credit card, only with limitations. ) Here's the thing: I can now buy things online without going through my parents. I can buy stuff on Amazon, and Ebay, and barnesandnoble.com and ( and this is the thing that makes me really happy, and my parents will never know ) I can even buy myself a paid account when the time my lovely anonymous beneficiary bought me runs out. I have just been given more responsibility in one minute than my parents have given me since they got me a dog four ( or is it five now? ) years ago.

Sometimes, I love my parents.

So yeah. That's my update. I'll let you all know what's happening with my computer when I know. My dad and I are taking to ( possibly ) be repaired tomorrow.

Over all, today was good. Thank you all for making it that way. I couldn't ask for better friends.

Make up an imaginary "scout medal" ( think boy/girl scouts ). Present me with a medal, then post this meme so I can present you with one!
