My mother is going to a funeral tomorrow. Of someone she knew when she was younger apparently. This woman was about 100 years old. Actuallly. And she died the other day. So my mother, and her siblings that are in the area, are going to the funeral.

My mother calls me, and asks me if I want to go. She says, "I know that you didn't know her, but going to a funeral might be interesting. You're a writer, and going to a funeral, specifically one where you aren't emotional, and can see things with the eye of an outsider, might be good research."

Sometimes, it surprises me when my mother thinks like this. Like, her daughter, the writer.

I love my mother.
