Thoughtses on Neil Gaiman (Another die-hard fan born.)

I finished reading American Gods today in the car. ( I had started it the day before, and I've been going kind of slowly, as I am enjoying the book, and didn't want to read it scary quick. ) Keeping in mind that I am the sort of person who will pick up a book off the shelf, look at the back, and put it back on the shelf when I see a female name and/or pronoun, I have to give Neil Gaiman props for creating a female character that I thoroughly enjoyed reading about.

Sam. Girl Sam.

And I have to say, this might stem from the fact that she has a page and a half monologue where she tells the main character what she believes in, and she managed, in that page and a half to tell me what I believed in. It was truly wonderful. Also, it didn't hurt that I liked her character. She was just cool.

So, after I finish Howl's Moving Castle, which is dissimilar enough from the movie so as to be interesting, I will read Neverwhere. I am now on a Neil Gaiman kick. When I finish Neverwhere, I fully intend to go get Stardust and Smoke and Mirrors. And that way I will be all caught up for when he's in NY on Spetember 20th, signing Anansi Boys, which I fully intend to get, and have him sign. *nods* ( I also want him to sign my copy of Good Omens. And maybe American Gods, which I only bought about a week ago, and now looks like I've had it for years. I've had Neverwhere far longer, and it looks brand new. Mostly because I haven't really touched it since I bought it, but no one needs to know that. >.> )

So yes, for all those in the NY area, who missed that in my ramble above:

So yeah. Those who can be, should be there. I will be, and I'm hoping that [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida will be with me. :D
