Oct. 6th, 2005 09:02 amYes, I did just have a two day school break in the middle of the week.
No, I was not online. At all.
This is not because I hate you. I love you all. This is because my harddrive crashed, and I am now computerless.
Why does no one listen to me? I told my da this summer that that laptop wasn't going to last through my senior year, and sort of went, "Pfft. Yes it will." So I haven't been moving it or anything, and trying not to put too much strain on it, but then, on Monday night, it stopped connecting to my USB drive. And it wouldn't connect to my desktop computer either. So I tried to restart it, and it refused to turn on. I didn't realize until the next morning that the problem was that something inside of it wasn't spinning like it was supposed to be. So, because my dad is an ass who wouldn't even talk to me about it on Tuesday, I had to wait until yesterday afternoon to get his opinion. And what does he say?
"No, I think you're harddrive crashed. I don't think it's spinning."
I really, really want to hurt someone/something and then cry for a day. My dad thinks that the apple store, if they can't make the computer work, can at least get the stuff off my harddrive so I won't lose everything. All my finished short stories are on my USB drive, and a few beginnings as well. The only finished KC2 story wasn't on there, but my mother has a copy. And Megan has the only copy of the fic I wrote her. (Speaking of which, Megan, could you please email that to me? At cerulean.sky@gmail.com please.)
What this also means, aside from the fact that I was very bored this weekend, was that I didn't get any writing done like I wanted to. That whole list... nothing from it got done. Oh, except that I finished Anansi Boys. Which was good. But nothing else got done.
And, the first time I can even take my computer to the apple store isn't until... This Sunday. Not until the 9th. If they're open on Sundays. Andif they aren't, then they certainly won't be open on Columbus Day, which is the day my dad wants to go, right before my NYU visit. (Oh, Air, I told Steven about NYU.)
The only conceivable plus side to all of this is that without my computer to distract me, I might really be able to concentrate on studying for the SATs. Whee.
